Ichikawa Basketry Store sells products from all over Japan, as well as from all over the world. Consisting mainly of handwoven baskets, sieves and winnows made from all-natural materials, we have a lineup of products useful for everyday life such as cooking utensils and cutlery, brooms, and tawashi (a type of scrubbing brush for cleaning).

An ample amount of time is necessary for plants to grow to the point where they can be used as materials. The materials pass through a series of processes until the handmade products are completed; they are closely observed in their raw state, harvested, chosen carefully, prepared for use, and then serve as parts for crafting.

The makers devote a substantial amount of time to becoming familiar with these materials to craft their works of art. For this reason, each and every work is unique in its own way, and can therefore be appreciated more deeply for its workmanship.

This is true for all of our household items, tools for work, and crafted works of art. The craftspeople come from many different cultural backgrounds, both from within and outside of Japan.

Each work possesses a breathtaking sense of beauty that can be found in its simplicity, genuineness, or other endearing characteristics.
They may even invoke a sense of attachment due to their uniqueness and charm, and each one is irreplaceable in its own regard.

At Ichikawa Basketry Store, our desire is to showcase these makers’ works, and to sell them to our customers from varying age groups all over the world.

Our store is located in Minami-Senju in Arakawa, Tokyo. Although it is small, its shelves are filled with works from all over the world.
