These are baskets woven from the bark of the Sawa-gurumi (Japanese Walnut) tree.

There are two main types of walnuts used for Basket weaving in Japan. One near a stream(Sawa-gurumi) and one in the mountains(Yama-gurumi). Walnuts close to the stream（Sawa-gurumi) are used for this basket.

Unlike the mountain walnuts（Yama-gurumi), which are found in the mountains and can be eaten, the fruits of the Sawa-gurumi walnut are not edible, and the seeds are carried far away by the flow of nearby streams.

Walnut bark is harvested at its peak from spring to the rainy season, when the material is rich in moisture.

Here, we will introduce four types of woven baskets with a checkered pattern
made from this walnut bark: small and medium sizes, and light and dark types.

The small size can be used as a basket to keep tea sets and bowls upright.
Also good for storing dried foods, canned goods, and other ingredients, as well as for storing tools and stationery.

For medium-sized ones, you can put things like place mats and scarves in them,
or put magazines and books you’re reading in them and keep them near the sofa or chair.

It is also useful for putting together documents for telework, such as working from home.

The materials are carefully made, but if you put towels or clothes inside,
it would be a good idea to put a piece of cloth on the inside to prevent them from getting caught.

You can enjoy the texture of the walnut bark, which has been woven using a wide range of strips.
The materials have been carefully processed, so it is not rough, but rather smooth and even feels smooth.
This is a tasty basket that fits into any room, regardless of the type of room, as an interior decoration.
