These chopsticks are made from bamboo.

Kyushu is an area where Moso bamboo is abundantly harvested, and these chopsticks are also crafted from that Moso bamboo.

Moso bamboo has a thick and dense inner layer, making it hard and durable.
Because of this strength, it is an ideal material for chopsticks that are used and washed almost every day.

They are also very light and smooth to the touch.
With a gentle warmth in the hand, they are chopsticks you will naturally find yourself reaching for.

This series of chopsticks comes in a total of six variations. There are three lengths—18 cm (7.09″), 21 cm (8.27″), and 23 cm (9.06″). Each length is available in two colors: Natural and Red.
This is the upper part of the chopsticks, where they are held. From the top end toward the tips, they gradually become slimmer.
The upper part is slightly slender, fitting comfortably and naturally in the hand.
If you look at the chopsticks from the top end, you will notice that they form a square shape. The darker-looking surface is the outer skin of the bamboo, which becomes the front side of the chopsticks.
The tips are shaped so that even small grains can be picked up with ease.
Because bamboo fibers run vertically along its length, even though the tips are made this slender, they do not break easily and remain strong and durable.

Bamboo chopsticks have long been favored and used over generations.
These also carry a sense of familiar nostalgia, yet their simple and straightforward character gives them a timeless appeal.

The “Natural” finish shows the original color of the bamboo,
allowing the grain and fibers unique to bamboo to be seen, creating a gentle and organic appearance.
The “Red” type features a fairly vivid red tone with a subdued sheen.

We will introduce them starting from the smallest size. This one is the 18 cm (7.09″) length in Natural.
This length is just right for children. (The photograph shows an eight-year-old child, approximately 130 cm tall, holding them.)
This one is the 18 cm (7.09″) length in Red.
It is also chosen by adults who have smaller hands or who prefer slightly shorter chopsticks.
This one is the 21 cm (8.27″) length in Natural. It is suited for women or for those with smaller hands.
This one is the 21 cm (8.27″) length in Red.
This one is the 23 cm (9.06″) length in Natural. With its generous length, it is suited for men or for those who prefer longer chopsticks.
This one is the 23 cm (9.06″) length in Red.

Both the Natural and Red finishes are treated with a food-safe polyurethane coating as the final step.

This finish smooths the surface and helps prevent water and oil
from penetrating into the bamboo, increasing durability.

It is also thanks to this finish that strong pigments—such as those from rich sauces—are less likely to stain the chopsticks.
Compared to untreated, uncoated bamboo, they can retain their original appearance for a considerably longer time.

If the chopsticks are bitten or scratched by sharp objects, the coating may peel,
making it easier for water to penetrate.
This can lead to darkening of the bamboo or the development of mold.
Please be aware of this in advance.

Dishwashers can also accelerate wear, so we recommend avoiding their use.
When cleaning, please use a soft sponge and a mild, neutral detergent.

Rice and other grains may occasionally stick to the chopsticks, but soaking them in water for a short time
before washing with a sponge or by hand will help remove them cleanly.

Over time, the coating will gradually wear away with use.
However, with gentle and careful handling, the chopsticks can be enjoyed for a long time.

When it comes to color transfer from food,
the Red finish tends to make stains less noticeable than the Natural finish.

That said, with the Natural finish as well, staining is minimal even after two to three years of use,
depending on frequency and how it is used.

It can be enjoyable to choose between the two colors depending on the atmosphere of your tableware,
the season, your mood, or the type of food being served.

Using different colors for siblings or family members
is also a simple and practical way to tell them apart, and something we recommend.

Chopsticks are tools we use almost every day, and they play an important role in our meals.

The smooth texture feels pleasant in the hand, and their light weight and slightly slender shape
are often praised by children as being easy to use.

Please check the dimensions carefully and choose the size and color that best suit your preference.

— Two Generations of Cutlery Making in Oita Prefecture —

In Oita Prefecture, there is a craftsperson who has continued making cutlery
since their parents’ generation.

Although they did not originally intend to take over the family craft,
they chose to inherit it and reconsider cutlery making from their own perspective.
Today, they continue to create a wide range of pieces, producing them day by day.

While the previous generation worked exclusively with bamboo,
the current maker sought to expand the range of forms.
They undertook further training in wooden cutlery making,
allowing them to create items that are difficult to achieve with bamboo alone,
such as ladles and spoons with generous depth, as well as plates.

With the belief that “cutlery is something for everyday use,” usability is always placed first.
At the same time, the finished pieces naturally carry pleasing tones
and a sense of design that delights the eye.

Through uncompromising polishing by skilled hands and a carefully applied polyurethane finish,
these cutlery pieces offer a smooth, comfortable feel at the mouth and ease of care,
making them suitable for users of all ages.

Among the many pieces, we believe you will find one that fits comfortably
in your hand and feels just right to use.
