In Kyūshū (South area of Japan) region, a long time ago, this type of small bamboo baskets used to be the children’s lunch boxes.

The White bamboo is made from the Madake bamboo.
The Madake bamboo is then roasted, boiled, or otherwise heat-treated,
then dried in the sun to remove the oils and moisture from the bamboo
and also to bleach its original green color, thus producing the White bamboo.

In fact, it is yellow in color, but in the world of Japanese bamboo crafts, this bamboo is called “White bamboo”.

On this page, we introduce two types of lunch boxes, “Small” and “Small (long-type)”.

The texture of White bamboo goes well with rice balls, sushi, sandwiches, and bread.

The good thing is that it allows for good ventilation and keeps the food inside from getting stuffy.

It is best to put in dry side dishes as much as possible.
Cooking paper, wax paper, plastic wrap, and cloths can be used without worrying about soiling the basket.

At the end of use, if dirty, rinse with water using a scrub brush or sponge, drain well, remove the lid, and dry thoroughly.

If oil gets on the surface, wash with a small amount of detergent and rinse well with water.

Although it is called a lunch box, it is also recommended as a container for small items and tools.
