These handbags are made of “Igusa” rush rope.
Igusa is also the material used to make “Tatami mats” for Japanese-style room floors.
Edge materials are used as rope to make baskets.
Wooden looms that have been carefully used for generations are used.
Once the flat surface is finished, each piece is then woven by hand, and handles are attached to create the basket shape.
This basic type does not have such a wide gusset,
but the soft material can be inflated or flattened depending on what you put in it.
Just like tatami mats, Igusa bag has a unique and delicious aroma.
The fresh colors and simple, tight weaving make you feel refreshed just by looking at it.
It can be used by both men and women without much choice of outfit.
These bags go well with rough styles, such as a simple T-shirt, jeans, and sandals.
The basket bag still has the image of being a bag for women,
but this basket can be used by both genders and can be used together.
The freshly made one is taut, but as you use it,
it will become more supple and the green color of Igusa will gradually change to brown with age.
We hope you will enjoy this change as well.
Please choose the size you prefer.
