This is a kitchen towel made from Khadi, a handwoven cotton fabric from India.

The texture is pleasantly smooth and dry to the touch, making it very comfortable against the skin.

Khadi towels are highly absorbent and quick-drying—useful in a variety of everyday tasks.
This page features five different patterns.

From left to right in the photo: “Indigo Selvedge,” “Madras,” “Brush Gray,” “Tattersall,” and “Tweed Herringbone.”
Khadi is traditionally woven by hand from cotton yarn. The first four types—Indigo Selvedge, Madras, Brush Gray, and Tattersall—are woven with two warp threads to one weft thread, a slight variation from the standard one-to-one plain weave.
Only the “Tweed Herringbone” is made with multiple colored threads in a looser, tweed-style weave. Compared to the other four, it has a bit more thickness and a softness that’s almost wool-like.
“Indigo Selvedge” is a plain natural-colored fabric with an indigo stripe running along one edge.
It has a rustic texture that could only come from hand-spun Khadi.
“Madras” is a check pattern made of stripes in varying widths.
The balance of indigo and charcoal gives it a timeless appeal.
“Brush Gray” features a softly raised warp thread that creates a subtly textured surface.
As the name suggests, the fine pattern resembles delicate brushstrokes running both vertically and horizontally.
“Tattersall” has a crisp and spacious plaid pattern.
On one edge, the original selvage is used, and its bold line acts as a visual accent.
“Tweed Herringbone” has a soft herringbone pattern that appears faintly on the surface.
Multiple thread colors are blended to create a deep, layered tone, giving it the refined look of a traditional tweed.
Three edges of each towel are finished with a triple fold and stitched neatly. As shown in the photos, the width of the folded hem varies slightly depending on the type.
You can tuck the towel into your apron for quick access. Because it’s so thin and light, it doesn’t pull to one side or weigh you down—perfect for staying active in the kitchen or while cleaning.

It also works wonderfully as a dish towel.
When fully unfolded, it’s large enough to wrap around big plates, wine glasses, or tall drinkware for gentle drying.

Beyond the kitchen, it can be used as a hand towel.
Try collecting different designs to suit different uses or assign one to each family member.

It can even be used like a tenugui—perfect for wrapping up lunch boxes and other items.

You can also lay it flat as a placemat.
Since it’s thin and packs flat, it’s easy to fold in half or quarters to suit the size of your table space.

These Khadi towels dry quickly and absorb moisture well.
They also grow softer with every wash, which is always a welcome feature.

A beautiful and practical addition to your daily life
—please choose your favorite design.

–– Series made by “Khadi” ––

Khadi, a traditional Indian cotton fabric,
is made by spinning cotton threads by hand and weaving them on a handloom.
Compared to machine-made mass-produced textiles,
it requires significantly more time and care to create.

This khadi fabric was made in Rajasthan, a region in northwestern India.
It is woven from organic cotton grown naturally
—without irrigation canals and relying almost entirely on rainwater.

Because the cotton is hand-spun, small remnants of the cotton plant
—such as bits of calyx—sometimes remain in the fibers.
Although it is 100% cotton, the fabric has a rustic texture that resembles linen.

This khadi series is a branded collection created by Suno & Morrison,
a Japanese-based design studio known for their work with natural materials.

Care Instructions

*We recommend hand-washing, or using a gentle hand-wash cycle with the item placed in a laundry net.
Please wash separately.

*Please note that slight irregularities in color and weave may be visible.
These are natural characteristics of the material.

*Although this item is dyed in India and treated to prevent color bleeding,
slight fading may occur depending on conditions such as the season of yarn dyeing (e.g. monsoon period).
To be safe, we recommend washing it separately from other items.
For indigo-dyed products in particular,
we suggest washing them alone for the first two or three times before use.

*As each piece is hand-dyed and handwoven, the color and pattern may vary slightly from the photos.
Thank you for your understanding.

Please note:
This item ships from Japan.
As the buyer, you are responsible for any import duties, customs fees, or local taxes that may be charged in your country.
These costs are not included in the item price or shipping cost.
Please check with your local customs authority if you are unsure about any potential charges before placing your order.
