Introduced here is a stunningly beautiful bamboo basket named “Sasara”.
“Sasara” means thinly sliced bamboo in Japanese.
These baskets were originally made in a village in Fuchu City, Hiroshima Prefecture,
It was mainly used as a basket for washing and storing dishes.
The maker, who is based in Kanagawa, Japan, was able to reissue the original after much trial and error based on video materials and other data from around 2012.
The name comes from the fact that the material, bamboo strips, are made in this “Sasara” way.
Our fourth generation (predecessor) of this shop gave the name to this product.
The “Sasara” basket series is available in five sizes:
extra-small, small, medium, large, and extra-large
(almost 29cm in diameter for extra-small size to 45cm in diameter for extra-large size).
This page introduces two sizes of them, “large” and “extra-large”.
Although it is a large size, it can be used as a basket to hold plenty of dish drying baskets and cups,
which is how it was originally intended to be used.
It also looks good as a basket for serving a lot of fruits or for holding sweets.
Some customers use it to store towels, blankets, and other fabric items,
or as a container for flower arrangements,
while others simply display the basket without putting anything in it because of its beauty.
This “Sasara” basket is a reproduction that transcends time and place.
We would be happy if you could use it in your daily life.
The green color will change to amber color over time.
Please enjoy such changes over an aging process.
The finish is beautiful, simple, yet powerful.
It is a basket full of elegance and grace that makes you gasp from every angle.
Please check the size carefully and choose the size you prefer.
