This is an antique wooden gear, thought to have once been part of old farming tools or machinery.
It was carefully carved from hard wood, with traces of handwork still visible in its rounded edges and tool marks.
Each tooth, cut from a thick board, has been gently worn down over long years of use,
leaving the corners softened and smooth.

At the center is a square hole, once fitted with a shaft to transfer rotational force to other parts.
It is thought to date from the Meiji to early Showa period,
possibly serving as a component in agricultural machinery or a waterwheel.
Today, having finished its role as a gear, it can be appreciated as an object for its wooden texture and form.
It may be placed upright on a shelf, used as a base for a vase, a weight for books, or displayed like a small sculpture.

There are chips, cracks, stains, and fine scratches from age.
Some teeth also show traces of later repair, but the piece remains solid and can stand upright on its own.

Usually hidden inside machinery or working behind the scenes to drive great power,
gears were the unsung force that kept things moving.
From this well-worn gear, one can feel a quiet strength, a mysterious sense of power accumulated over time.
Please enjoy it as an interior accent or a unique object in your living space.
