This is an aluminum alloy steaming plate, designed to support steaming preparation.
Simply place the steaming plate over a pot or pan, then place a bamboo steamer on top.
When using a Chinese-style steamer, if the pot is smaller than the steamer, the bottom of the steamer may get scorched by direct heat from the burner.
On the other hand, if the pot is too large, the steamer may slip inside, making it difficult to steam properly.
This steaming plate acts as a stable platform between the pot and the steamer, allowing you to position the steamer securely over the pot.
Since it comes in different sizes, please check the diameter of your pot and steamer
to select the best-fitting size.
This page features six sizes,
from 18cm (7.09″) to 33cm (12.99″) in diameter.
※For the 27cm, 30cm, and 33cm sizes, the central hole diameter is gradually being changed from 3.54″ to 5.91″. During this transition period, both versions may be in circulation. We regret that you cannot choose which version will be shipped.
This is the 18cm (7.09″) size, the smallest in the steaming plate series. It fits steamers with a diameter of approximately 4″ to 6″.
When preparing to use a steaming plate, please make sure the sizes match properly—
both between the pot and the plate, and between the steamer and the plate.
- Pot and steaming plate:
Check that the pot’s shape and diameter allow the steaming plate to sit flat and securely on top. - Steamer and steaming plate:
Make sure the steamer fits neatly within the inner rim of the plate.
If you’re choosing between two sizes, we recommend selecting the larger one—
it’s generally more versatile across different setups.
However, please note: if the pot has handles that rise above the rim,
the steaming plate may not sit evenly, and could become unstable.
Japanese-style steamers can be used just like Chinese-style ones.
Though simple in appearance, the steaming plate plays an important role
in bringing steamer and pot together.
