This small brush is made from broomcorn.

One of five color variations will be delivered at random.
Please note that color selection is not available.

Broomcorn is an annual plant of the grass family.
It is sown in spring, grows through the season, and reaches a height of about 6.5–13.0 ft by summer.

The stalk produces a tassel at the top, and it is mainly this tassel that is used to make brooms.

This broom is crafted using high-quality broomcorn grown in Nagano, Japan.

Each piece is carefully handcrafted by an artisan who continues the tradition of broom-making—
working sincerely with every material and every broom, preserving the refined techniques of the craft.

This small brush is perfect for quickly cleaning little spots around you.

It fits easily in the palm of your hand and has a charmingly compact size.
The broomcorn fibers are short, giving it a firm, springy texture that provides a crisp sweeping feel.
Though small, the fibers are densely bundled, allowing it to sweep effectively.
Each brush comes with a leather hanging strap.
During the shaping process, cotton thread is used to bind the broomcorn, and the thread is naturally dyed using plant-based dyes.
The small brushes are available in five plant-dyed colors, each with unique shades and natural variations.
This is the Pink type, dyed with madder.
This is the Brown type, dyed with asenyaku. (Asenyaku is an extract from a plant in the Rubiaceae family, whose leaves and young branches are used in herbal medicine.)
This is the Light Brown type, dyed with onion skins.
This is the Light Blue type, double-dyed with indigo and onion skins.
This is the Indigo type, dyed with indigo.

Light and easy to handle, its small size makes it comfortable even for children to use.

It’s perfect for sweeping away eraser dust or paper scraps after craft work on a desk.

You can also use it to clean the grooves of shoji screens, the inside of a coffee grinder,
to gather scattered powder, or to sweep away bread crumbs from a toaster.

Slip it into your bag and carry it with you—
it’s handy to take out whenever you notice a little dust or crumbs.

There is something about it that feels almost like a small good-luck charm.

The color of the thread will be chosen at random.
Please look forward to seeing which one arrives.

__Cultivating Broomcorn and Crafting Brooms__

The brooms introduced here are made almost entirely by one person—
from growing the broomcorn to crafting each broom by hand.

In spring, seeds are sown in the fields.
While watching over the young broomcorn as it sprouts and grows,
the maker thins the plants, removes weeds, and tends the field with care.
When the stalks have grown tall, well beyond human height,
the tassels are harvested at the height of midsummer, under the intense sun.

Each tassel is carefully examined and hand-picked,
and the materials for a full year’s broom-making are gathered during this period.

The harvested broomcorn is then sun-dried for several days
and sorted according to which part of the broom each piece will be used for.
(This sorting process is said to be one of the most important steps that determine the quality of the broom.)

After the materials are prepared, the actual broom-making finally begins.

From tending the fields under the summer sun to sorting the materials and finishing each broom,
every stage is approached with sincerity and care—
and you can feel that dedication when you hold the finished broom in your hands.
