This is a small spherical basket made from Matatabi vine.

Matatabi vine is well known in Japan and belongs to the same family as the kiwi fruit.
When you cut its fruit open, the arrangement of the seeds looks remarkably similar.
It grows wild on mountain slopes and is known for being very labor-intensive to harvest.
The branches are harvested in autumn, then dried before being used for weaving.
