In the region once known as Iyo Province, home to the famous Dōgo Onsen in Matsuyama,
bamboo baskets for bath goods—called yukago—have long been well known.

However, the traditional bamboo craftsmanship once referred to as “Iyo Bamboo Work”
has now almost disappeared from the area.

At the same time, a new generation of makers has studied at the training center in Beppu, Ōita,
and continues working to revive bamboo craftsmanship in their home region of Ehime.

With a clear sense of purpose—to live through bamboo craft as a true livelihood—
they teach the art of bamboo weaving to many, calmly and logically, yet with quiet passion.
Their dedication to doing everything possible for those who use their baskets
recalls the spirit of the master artisans of earlier generations.
