This is a Shimekazari ornament named “Infinity Glass.”

“Infinity Glass” evokes the feeling of standing before a vast, open horizon
—where the air is clear and the view stretches endlessly ahead.
It brings a quiet sense of clarity, as if clearing the mind and helping one see the path forward.

This Shimekazari is shaped like a pair of glasses, symbolizing clear vision and the ability to see ahead.
In Japan, this form has long been seen as a charm for foresight and broad perspective.
The two interlinked circles suggest harmony, lasting bonds, and good relationships,
while their wheel-like form also represents smooth progress, prosperity, and the fruitful cycles of life.
It is an ornament to welcome the new year with clarity, balance, and the hope for fortunate connections ahead.

A Shimekazari is a traditional New Year’s ornament made of rice straw, displayed indoors or outdoors to welcome the Toshigami deity at the start of the year.

The Shimekazari introduced here is made locally in southern Nagano, using rice straw harvested in the area.

The makers are involved in every step, from cultivating and harvesting the rice straw to crafting each Shimekazari by hand.

The rice straw is harvested early, before the grains ripen, during the hot summer months of July and August.

This Shimekazari is made with the same high-quality rice straw used for constructing sumo wrestling rings.
The fresh green straw is carefully twisted and braided by hand.

For the New Year, it can be placed at the entrance or hung on a door or wall.
Its generous size brings a sense of presence and a calm, graceful atmosphere to the space.

Indoors, you can display it anywhere you like — in the living room, dining area, or bedroom.
As it symbolizes “clear vision for the future,” it is also well suited for entrances of restaurants, galleries, or select shops.
Even after the New Year season, we recommend keeping it displayed throughout the year to enjoy its presence and good fortune.

The fresh appearance of the rice ears conveys a sense of hope and abundance reaching toward the future.
Their soft, shimmering glow seems to light the path ahead, gently guiding us into a bright new year.

To keep your Shimekazari in good condition,
please open the package promptly upon arrival and do not leave it stored inside the cardboard box.
If you are not going to display it right away, store it indoors in a cool place away from direct sunlight.
After use, it may be taken to a Shinto shrine for disposal, or treated as burnable household waste.
If disposing as waste, please be sure to follow your local municipality’s guidelines.

Within the two gracefully shaped rings, one can almost see a vast and peaceful landscape reflected.
Like gazing toward the far horizon—thinking of what lies ahead while quietly seeing off what has passed—
this shimekazari seems to embody the heart that looks forward to walking into a new year.
May the coming year be one in which we cherish each and every day.
