These are square-shaped, shallow organizing baskets made of White bamboo.

The White bamboo is made from the Madake bamboo.
The Madake bamboo is then roasted, boiled, or otherwise heat-treated,
then dried in the sun to remove the oils and moisture from the bamboo
and also to bleach its original green color, thus producing the White bamboo.

In fact, it is yellow in color, but in the world of Japanese bamboo crafts, this bamboo is called “White bamboo”.

Visually, White bamboo work is bright, fresh, and sophisticated.
As a material, the process of removing oil and moisture tightens and strengthens the bamboo.
The processing also has the advantage of reducing the risk of splinters and mold.

You can fold and store T-shirts, knitwear, coats, stoles, and other clothes in it.

Both the small and large sizes are about the same depth of 10cm (3.94″).

In the world of bamboo crafts, they are sometimes grouped into categories
depending on what or who made them, such as “utilitarian,” “crafts,” “arts,” or “folk art”.

On the other hand, there is a couple who are working daily
“Let’s create bamboo products with a new image in a broader sense”.

The husband was also a self-taught bamboo craftsman, but in order to further improve his skills,
he decided to enter the “Oita prefectural Bamboo crafts training center” in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture.
The wife also joined this school.
After graduation, they both worked for several years at a factory in Oita Prefecture,
where they continued to weave to order.

The works created by these people, which are based on the basic skills of doing a large number of pieces,
are not simply the product of images and ideas.
The materials to be used are determined according to the type of basket (or product) to be made.
The color scheme and shape, and usability for today’s life.
Each has its own considerations and shines in the right place at the right time,
and the variety of “bamboo products” seems to have a relaxed and enjoyable quality.
